Practical advice
Changing your alarm maintenance provider
A practical starting point for transferring support for an existing system.
1. Check the current arrangements
Find the current agreement, renewal date and notice terms. Establish which equipment is covered and whether monitoring is supplied under the same arrangement or separately.
2. Identify the equipment
Record panel, recorder and controller models and gather recent service reports. Note faults, nuisance activations or functions you are unsure about. Never include passwords or alarm codes in an ordinary enquiry.
3. Arrange an assessment
A new provider needs to understand the system before confirming support. Equipment condition, compatibility and missing records can all affect the proposed work and maintenance scope.
4. Compare the scope
Compare what is included rather than only the annual price. Discuss planned visits, support arrangements, additional charges and responsibility for monitoring. Make sure any required remedial work is identified.
5. Coordinate the handover
Agree dates and responsibilities before cancelling existing services. Monitoring and response arrangements should not be left to assumption during a change of provider.
