Choosing your system

Switch2, Net2 or Paxton10?

The right choice depends on how many doors you need to manage, how often access changes and whether you want event records or video alongside your access control.

Standalone access

Paxton Switch2

Simple door access without a management PC or computer network. A separate controller works with a compatible reader or keypad at each controlled door.

With a token-based setup, users are enrolled at the reader and a lost token can be barred using its matching shadow card. Administration is carried out locally rather than through central software.

A good fit for: individual doors or smaller premises where straightforward access is the priority and central event reporting is not required.

Centrally managed access

Paxton Net2

A networked system with PC-based software for managing users and doors from one place. Set permissions for individuals or groups and review access events.

It suits sites where staff changes, several entrances or different access permissions would make administration at each door inconvenient. Net2 Lite and Pro offer different feature sets; remote management options depend on the software and configuration.

A good fit for: offices, schools and commercial buildings that need central control and event records, with scope to expand.

Access and video together

Paxton10

Combines access control and video management in one system, with a browser-based interface. Compatible cameras can bring video and access events together for easier review.

Alongside cards and tokens, compatible readers support Bluetooth smartphone credentials. Multi-site and remote management are available with the appropriate system setup.

A good fit for: properties seeking joined-up access and video management, mobile credentials or control across multiple sites.
